Paleo Wears Red

Happy National Wear Red Day!

Today is National Wear Red Day to support heart health and awareness. Did you know that heart disease is the #1 killer of women in America? Fun Fact: Alpha Phi started the "red dress pin" which is now found on Diet Coke cans.

On this topic, a recent CNN article addresses the health effects, notwithstanding weight gain and obesity, sugar has on your body. According to Dr. Sanjay Gupta (CNN), added sugars create cholesterol in your body which can raise your cholesterol and lead to heart disease. These added sugars are the sugars found in bread, baked goods, candies, etc. - basically everything we paleos stay away from. Conversely, the same report stated that naturally occurring sugars, like those found in fruit, are healthy. The sugars in fruit come with fiber and health benefits. This is just one more reason to love being paleo!

P.S. Today is my one month of being paleo!
